Ongoing responsibilities
The provisions in the Consumer Credit (Victoria) Act 1995 relating to finance brokers are designed to protect members of the public by outlining how finance brokers must conduct business.
Consumer Affairs Victoria deals with complaints about finance brokers who do not comply with the requirements, and can:
- Prosecute them; and
- Bring them before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal which hears consumer applications for the repayment of money received by finance brokers to which they are not entitled.
