| The Introduction Agents Act 1997 covers people and corporations that, as a business, provide or offer to provide an introduction service by undertaking to match individuals for personal relationships or social outings.
Some people who supply dating services are excluded from the Act, such as not-for-profit introductions for a community purpose or otherwise. People who publish or otherwise supply details of people seeking relationships (information providers) are not covered if the following criteria are met: |
- People can obtain details of potential partners without directly contacting the information provider;
- People receiving or submitting information are not obliged to use the service again; and
- Services are provided for a fee of less than $100.
