Commencement of the Owners Corporations Act 2006 "Guidelines for Registered Owners Corporation Managers" now available. These Guidelines aim to assist Registered Managers to understand and comply with their legal obligations.

The Owners Corporation Act 2006 commenced on 31 December, 2007. If you propose to carry out any of the functions of an Owners Corporation Manager for a fee or reward, you are required to lodge an application to be registered as an Owners Corporation Manager with the Business Licensing Authority (BLA).

Who needs to be registered as a Manager

Any person or company carrying out the functions of an Owners Corporation Manager for a fee or reward in Victoria must be registered with the BLA. Individual directors of a company do not need to be registered.

If you intend to operate a partnership arrangement with one or more people, each person in the partnership must be a registered manager.

Licensed estate agent's representatives who only perform the functions of leasing or sales for an Owners Corporation rather than the functions of an Owners Corporation Manager do not require to be registered as an Owners Corporation Manager.
