Individual Document Checklist
You must submit the following documents at the same time as your application.
Identification: Certified copies of 100 points of identification.
Criminal history: A completed Criminal History and Other Records Check Consent form.
Competency Qualifications: A certified copy of one of the following.
For those who have undertaken training / examination:
Certificate or statement of attainment of successful completion of all 6 subjects of the Commonwealth Government National Standard:
- FNSCONV501B take instructions in relation to a conveyancing transaction; and
- FNSCONV502B prepare and analyse and execute documents; and
- FNSCONV503B establish, manage and administer trust accounts; and
- FNSCONV504B finalise conveyancing transactions; and
- FNSCONV601B obtaining and analysing information for a conveyancing transaction; and
- FNSICORG603B negotiating to achieve goals and manage disputes.
VETASSESS certificate of competency in each of the above six subjects.
For those who have completed a degree / diploma:
- Evidence of successful completion of a law degree where study for the degree commenced before 1 July 2008, together with evidence of attainment of successful completion of FNSCONV503B establish, manage and administer trust accounts;
- Evidence of successful completion of a Diploma of Financial Services (Conveyancing) conducted by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology or Victoria University where study for the diploma commenced before 1 July 2008;
- Evidence of successful completion of an Associate or Advanced Diploma of Business (Legal Practice) where study for the diploma commenced before 1 July 2008, together with evidence of attainment of successful completion of FNSCONV503B establish, manage and administer trust accounts.
Interstate and New Zealand registrations:
If currently registered in another part of Australia or New Zealand, a copy of the conveyancers licence(s) or registration(s).
Work Experience
Confirmation of Conveyancing Work Experience with Unrestricted Licensed Conveyancer and/or Australian Legal Practioner (ALP):
Written evidence from your current/previous employer(s) or a supervisor authorised to speak on behalf of your employer, confirming that you have at least 12 months full-time or equivalent part-time experience within the last 5 years in carrying out conveyancing work in accordance with the definition of “conveyancing work” set out in the Conveyancers Act 2006. This information should include the following:
- dates of employment and hours spent on conveyancing work per week; and
- a brief description of conveyancing duties performed.
