Conveyancers Public Register

Access to the Public Register of Licensed Conveyancer’s is available online.

In accordance with the Conveyancers Act 2006, the Business Licensing Authority (the BLA) must establish and maintain a Register of Licensed Conveyancer’s.
For each licensee, the BLA must record in the register:
- the licensee’s full name and licence number
- the name and address of the principal place of business in Victoria
- the licensee’s Australian Business Number
- the date on which the licensee’s licence was granted and, if applicable, suspended, cancelled or surrendered
- details of any conditions to which the licence is subject (including whether unrestricted/full or provisional)
- details of any known court or VCAT orders affecting the licence
- details of any claims against the Victorian Property Fund that have been allowed against the licensee
- the website address if the licensee maintains an internet site in respect of the conveyancing business
- if the licensee is a company, the name and date of appointment of each director
- if the licensee conducts a conveyancing business from more than one place; the address of each other location and, the full name of the person appointed to manage the day to day operation at each location
- if the licensee is an employee of another licensee, the name and business address of their employer
- if the licensee employs one or more other licensees, the name and start date of each of those employees
- details of any licence application that has been refused within the last two years
- details of any other prescribed matter.
Only part of the Register is available online.
Subject to the Public Records Act 1973, the Registrar may, if in his or her opinion it is no longer necessary or desirable to retain it, remove any information from the register 12 years after the information was added to the register.
Two types of extracts can be obtained from this register, a partial extract and a full extract.
You can request a partial extract online, via the Online Search of Conveyancer's Register. A partial extract contains only current information about a licensee.
A full extract will provide you with all historical as well as, current information about the person or company. A full extract will be available from the BLA Registrar and a fee applies.
A copy of the entire Register may be available for certain purposes. A person seeking bulk information will need to apply to the Registrar and a fee applies.
