Engage in Finance and Mortgage Broking
You do not need a licence to engage in finance/mortgage broking in Victoria.
However, the Consumer Credit (Victoria) Act 1995 regulates individuals and corporations who engage in finance/mortgage broking and you do need to ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria as:
- some people are prohibited from engaging in finance/mortgage broking
- some individuals or companies are disqualified from finance/mortgage broking and must apply for permission from the BLA if they wish to be able to engage in finance/mortgage broking.
For more information on eligibility please refer to the 'Eligibility and Disqualifications' page.
If you are uncertain whether or not you can engage in finance/mortgage broking, seek your own independent legal advice.
