Second Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Public Register

(The information on this register is accurate as at 9 November 2009)

The Second Hand Dealer and Pawnbroker Register contains the following information:

  • The company or person’s registration number 
  • the date of the registration
  • the date of any suspension
  • any conditions placed on the registration
  • the company or person's full name
  • if the person is a company:
    • the name of each director
    • the date of appointment of each director
    • the date each director ceases as a director of the company
  • an Australian Business Number (ABN) if any
  • every address and telephone number at which the person or company carries on business
  • any business names under which the person or company carries on business
  • the address of any internet site maintained for carrying on business as a second hand dealer or pawnbroker.

The register of Endorsed Pawnbrokers is available online below. Otherwise, the full register of second hand dealers is available for public inspection at the BLA's offices during business hours. 

Public Register of Endorsed Pawnbrokers

In order to ensure that consumers deal only with endorsed pawnbrokers the Public Register below will assist you in locating pawnbrokers who are endorsed by the BLA.

Any person wishing to rely on public register information relating to pawnbrokers for legal purposes should contact the BLA for a full Registrar's Certificate.

A list of all current endorsed pawnbrokers is available on line and is listed below. Please note that this list is updated periodically.
